Destination Bridal Hair in Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley

Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley are not Palm Beach, and that is the point. If you are marrying in Delaware, you are probably marrying in October, which means a very different set of hair conditions than the ones I plan for at home.

What changes: cool air and low humidity are gifts. Hair holds a set in Delaware in a way it never does in Florida, which means soft, romantic styles that would collapse on Worth Avenue will hold beautifully here, and you can genuinely wear the loose waves you have been pinning for two years.

What to watch: wind and dry air. Riverside venues and gardens along the Brandywine can be breezy, and dry autumn air makes fine hair static and flyaway. I bring an anti-static approach and a light finishing oil for the ends, and I place the front so it does not move in a gust.

Indoor venues here tend to be historic, with heavy stone, warm wood, and lower light than a Florida ballroom. That favors styles with softness at the edges and a clean center: a low chignon with a little face-framing softness, a classic French twist, waves with a deeper part. Photographs in low warm light are extraordinarily flattering, and the hair should feel like it belongs in a room with old beams.

Travel is the honest part. I plan a destination wedding differently: arrival the day before, a confirmed getting-ready space, and a schedule that accounts for a real venue walk-through rather than an assumption.
