Reason one is clean hair with too much slip. Freshly washed, conditioned hair is coated and slippery, and no amount of texture spray fixes a surface that will not grip. I ask Palm Beach brides to wash the night before, not the morning of, and to skip heavy conditioner at the root.
Reason two is a base that was never built. Volume that comes from backcombing alone collapses under its own weight in Florida humidity. I set the base with heat and product so it holds a shape, then pin into that shape rather than against it.
Reason three is weight distribution. A low chignon with every pin in one cluster pulls. The same look pinned in a balanced pattern feels weightless and stays put through a hora.
Reason four is the veil. Veils are heavier than brides expect, especially cathedral length, and if the comb is seated into soft surface hair it takes the whole style with it when it comes out. I anchor veil combs into the structure underneath.
Reason five is touch. Hands go up all night. Every adjustment loosens something.
