What If I Hate My Hair on My Wedding Morning?

The five-minute conversation that saves the photographs

November 6, 2026

It happens more than anyone admits. The style is finished, the robe comes off, you look in the mirror, and something is wrong. Maybe it is too tight, maybe it is not what you pictured, maybe it just is not you. If this is you on your wedding morning, here is what to do, in order.

First, breathe, and say it out loud. The worst version of this involves a bride who says nothing, walks down the aisle uncomfortable, and hates forty percent of her photographs. Every artist I know would rather rebuild a style than watch that happen. There is no version of this where being polite serves you.

Second, be specific. Not "I hate it," which gives me nothing to work with, but "the front is too flat," "it is pulling at my temples," "I wanted it softer around my face," "there is too much height on top." Specific complaints are solvable in ten minutes. Vague ones cost thirty.

Third, know your options. Almost everything can be adjusted without starting over: pins come out and go back in, a front section can be re-softened, height can come down, a chignon can become a low bun in five minutes. A full rebuild to a completely different silhouette takes thirty to forty minutes, which is why we build a cushion into the timeline for the bride specifically.

If you hate it at the preview instead, that is the good news. Previews exist so this conversation happens weeks before, not minutes before. I always ask for one honest sentence at the end of a preview, and I mean the honest one.

What I will not do is talk you into something. My job is that you look like the best version of yourself, not the best version of my portfolio. If that means taking the whole thing down and doing the soft half-up you were nervous to ask for, we do that, and we still make the first look on time.

If this is the fear keeping you up, inquire and tell me about it. The Bride Experience is a thousand dollars and includes the preview where we solve exactly this, and the investment page explains what is included.
