It happens more than anyone admits. Six days out, a bride texts me from bed with a fever and a voice that sounds like gravel. First, breathe. A cold will not ruin your photographs. Your hair can be managed. What matters is that we adjust rather than panic.
The biggest practical issue is sweat and frizz from fever. Being sick raises your body temperature, and lying on a pillow for two days gives you a flat, static, slightly greasy crown that no updo enjoys. Wash the night before the wedding as usual, but keep conditioner off the root and do not over-dry with a hot tool.
The scalp needs kindness. If you have been vomiting or running a fever, your scalp is often tender, and a tight updo will feel worse than usual. Tell me. I can build a softer base, ease tension at the hairline, and skip the tight sections near your temples without changing how the finished style looks.
The second issue is your party. If you are contagious, do not sit three feet from your mother and six bridesmaids for four hours. I have styled a masked bride with the suite windows open and everyone else in another room, and the photographs from that day are gorgeous. Nobody knew.
Rest more than you think you should. Hydration and sleep do more for your skin and hair than any product. And message your artist the moment you feel off. We plan for this quietly, and it costs you nothing.
When you inquire, tell me your dates and your party size. The Bride Experience is $1,000, and the full investment is spelled out clearly.
