What wet look actually is. A high-shine finish achieved with a gel or gloss that creates a smooth, reflective surface. It reads editorial, sculptural, and modern. It is also unforgiving, because a smooth, reflective surface shows every imperfection in the hair and the head shape.
Where it works. Indoor venues, evening ceremonies, architectural dresses, and brides with strong bone structure who are comfortable with a bold look. It photographs spectacularly under controlled light, especially with a black-tie dress.
Where it does not. Outdoor ceremonies in Florida. Sun and humidity will break the surface, and a partially broken wet look reads as greasy rather than intentional. There is no graceful middle state.
How I would adapt it for a Palm Beach wedding. Take the concept, not the execution: a sleek, smooth, highly polished low shape with a glossy finish at the front and a soft, dry texture at the back. You get the modern editorial feeling without the fragility. That version lasts all night.
