Wedding hair in Wellington is not the same job as wedding hair in Palm Beach. It is five degrees warmer, further from the ocean, and often scheduled around a season that runs from January to April when the whole town is at capacity. Wellington National Golf Club is a lovely setting for it, and the hair plan should reflect the town rather than the island.
My first adjustment is product. Inland, I use less salt and more flexible hold, because there is no breeze to work with. Hair that was styled to move has nothing to move it, and it just sits. So I build in deliberate softness with the iron and then set it, rather than relying on texture spray to do work it cannot do in still air.
Second adjustment is timing. Wellington brides often have out-of-town parties, which means a lot of last-minute additions in the final two weeks. I plan the schedule with slack. If your count is twelve today, I build the call time for fourteen, and nobody panics when two more cousins arrive.
Third, the ceremony itself. Golf course ceremonies tend to be midday, which is the harshest light of the day. I keep the front smooth and set, because midday sun finds every loose piece and photograph it as frizz. A clean front reads intentional in bright light.
Costs are published: Bride Experience $1,000, party hair $225 per person, additional on-location hours $400 each. Above seven hair services a second artist joins. Full detail on investment.
