Every bride promises herself she will not be late. Then something happens, and I have seen more wedding mornings go sideways for one boring reason than any other: the timeline assumed everyone would be ready at their turn. Here is how I build a schedule that survives real life.
The core rule is that I schedule hair services, not people. Each person gets a slot with a start time and an end time, and the end time is a hard stop. If someone is not in the chair when their slot begins, they move to the end of the queue rather than pushing the whole morning. That single rule prevents the cascading delay that ruins mornings.
The second rule is a buffer before the bride. Not five minutes. Thirty. On a normal morning we never need it, and on the one morning we do, it saves the wedding.
Third, I ask the photographer for their getting-ready arrival time and build backwards from it. Photographers want the bride in the final stages, not finished, and if I do not know when they arrive, I finish too early and the style sits.
Fourth, breakfast. A bride who has not eaten is a bride who faints in the chair. I say it plainly because it happens.
