First, the honest truth: hair looks better at midnight if it was built slightly tighter than comfortable at nine in the morning. Every bridal style relaxes. A style that feels perfect and soft when you leave the chair will feel loose by the reception. I build in that allowance deliberately and I tell brides it will feel a touch firm for the first hour.

Second, the after-party decision. If you are changing clothes, you should change hair. A structured updo with a mini dress reads formal in a way that looks accidental. Take the pins out, brush through, add a texture mist, and put it in a high pony. Four minutes and it reads as a different look entirely.
