What I tell clients planning a vow renewal: this is your chance to correct the one thing you would change. If you wore an updo and wished you had worn it down, wear it down. If you wore it down and spent the night pushing it off your neck, wear it up. Twenty years of perspective is useful information.
The styling itself has more freedom than a wedding. You can go more glamorous, more modern, or more relaxed than a bridal look. A sleek low pony with real shine. A deep side part with Hollywood waves. A textured chignon with a beautiful comb. Anything that photographs well in the light you will actually be in.
Photography is usually the centerpiece. Anniversary parties involve group portraits, generational photographs, and a lot of frames with grandchildren. Those are close photographs, so the finish should be satin rather than wet, and the front should be placed to look good at close range from any angle.
Timing is looser, which is a gift. Without a ceremony deadline, appointments can be scheduled in the afternoon and guests can be styled in a relaxed sequence.
