Brides ask me whether they need to tip their hair and makeup team, and they ask it nervously because the etiquette is genuinely unclear. Here is the honest version, from the person who would receive it.
The baseline. Your service providers are not tipped employees in the restaurant sense. A bridal stylist sets their own rates specifically so the rate is the full compensation. So tipping is not expected, and no professional I know would be offended by its absence.
When people do tip. Two situations. First, if the team travels far, arrives unusually early, or stays late because the day ran over, a tip is a gracious thank-you. Second, if a team member went well beyond the scope, like fixing a dress, managing a family situation, or staying through a first look they were not booked for.
How much. Ten to fifteen percent of the service total is generous and appropriate. More than that is lovely and unnecessary.
How to handle it gracefully. Cash in a card, handed to the lead artist at the end, with a note for the team. Do not tip each person individually in front of the party, because it creates an awkward moment with the ones who were not individually named.
One more thing worth saying: a kind review, a tagged photo, and a referral mean more to most of us than a cash tip. I am not being polite. I mean it.
