Wedding Hair at The Surf Club, Surfside: Miami Architectural Glamour

The Surf Club is a particular kind of Miami luxury: Russell Pancoast architecture from 1930, restored to something almost painfully beautiful, with the ocean on one side and a genuinely glamorous room on the other. Weddings here feel like the middle of a very good movie.

What the venue asks of hair: glamour with discipline. The room is white, bright, and full of strong architectural lines, and hair that is too soft disappears in that setting. A deep side part with glossy waves, a polished low chignon, a structured pony with real weight, these hold their own against the room and photograph with the contrast it deserves. This is one of the few South Florida venues where I actively encourage a little more formality.

Surfside humidity is coastal and the outdoor spaces are close to the water, so any style that lives partly outside needs a real base. I set the front deliberately and finish with a hold that behaves in ocean air rather than fighting it.

Timeline notes: the property is deep, and moving from a suite to the ocean lawn to the ballroom is a genuine walk. I plan the morning around the real route, with your planner, so portraits never start late. Parties here often run eight to twelve services, which is a two-artist morning with a schedule built backward from the ceremony. Brides coming from Palm Beach County should know I build the Miami drive in rather than pretending the turnpike is empty in season.
