Spray tans and bridal hair have a complicated relationship, and it is entirely about timing. Get it right and your skin looks luminous in photographs. Get it wrong and you have a bride with a beautiful updo and an orange hairline, plus a fresh tan that is actively fading onto her white dress.
The rule I give every Palm Beach bride is simple: tan two to three days before the wedding, never the day before. That window lets the tan develop and settle, so it stops transferring onto fabric and stops looking green at the edges. It also gives you one full shower before the big day, which matters more than people realize.
For hair specifically, ask your tan artist to stop at the hairline rather than spraying into it. Barrier cream along the hairline and ears is worth requesting out loud. If you already have a heavy tan, do not wash your hair the morning of the wedding to remove it. That will not help and it will strip the oils your styling needs.
K-tip brides need a separate conversation. Barrier cream at the bonds, and keep the spray off the extension attachment points entirely. Fresh tan near a bond is a texture problem and a staining problem at once.
If the tan looks too deep, do not panic and scrub. A gentle exfoliation two days out evens things, and your makeup artist can warm the face to match.
