This is the least romantic post I will ever write and possibly the most useful. Here is what actually happens to your hair in the six weeks before a wedding, week by week, in the order that avoids disasters.
Six weeks out: any color appointment. If you are going lighter or correcting a tone, this is the last safe window for a big change. Anything more dramatic than a gloss should not happen closer than this.
Five weeks: a trim, two centimeters at most. Enough to clean the ends, not enough to change your shape.
Four weeks: your bridal preview. This is the most important appointment in the whole countdown, because it is where we discover that the photo you love does not work with your hair, and there is still time to solve it.
Three weeks: a mask once a week, nothing new. If you have thought about a keratin or a smoothing treatment, it needed to happen before now.
Two weeks: another gloss if your tone drifts fast. No cuts, no new products, no experiments.
One week: a final trim of the very ends only if you insist. Otherwise nothing. Wash normally, sleep on silk, and stop reading hair advice on the internet.
Wedding week: wash the night before, not the morning of, and skip heavy conditioner at the root.
That is the whole plan. If you want it mapped to your actual date, inquire and I will send the calendar. The Bride Experience, including that preview, is $1,000, with the full investment online.
