Brides ask me whether a side part is back. It is, and I am glad, but the reason it is back matters more than the trend. Here is what is actually happening and how to wear it well.
Why it returned. A center part has dominated for years because it reads effortless and modern. But it is unforgiving. It exposes the hairline, it demands symmetry, and it flattens the crown. A side part does the opposite: it adds volume instantly, softens the face, and forgives an imperfect hairline. Those advantages matter enormously in wedding photography.
How to wear it in 2026. Not the deep, 1990s side part. This is a soft, off-center part, maybe an inch off middle, that adds lift at the root without creating a dramatic line. The volume goes slightly forward and up, and I finish with a light bend through the front so it does not sit flat against the skull.
Where it works best. Very well on a groomed blowout, worn down or in a low shape. Also excellent as the base of a low chignon, because the side part gives the front a soft asymmetry that makes a simple shape feel considered.
One caution. If you have a very strong cowlick or a widow's peak, a part too far off center will fight it. That is a preview conversation, not a decision made at the mirror.
Pricing: Bride Experience $1,000, party hair $225 per person, extra on-location hours $400. See investment.
