The Side Part Returns: Bridal Styling's Quiet Comeback

For a decade, the center part ruled bridal styling — every Pinterest board, every head in my chair parted down the middle like a rule. Now, slowly and then all at once, the side part is back. My 2025 brides are asking for the deep side sweep again, and after fifteen years of watching trends cycle, I can tell you why it has returned and who it flatters.

Why it photographs beautifully: a deep side part creates asymmetry, and asymmetry creates interest — the eye travels across the face instead of halting at the middle. It adds volume at the crest, elongates the face, and gives off-shoulder necklines a counterweight. Center parts read severe; side parts read romantic and expensive.

Who it flatters: nearly everyone, but especially round and square faces, where the diagonal adds length and softens the jaw; fine hair, because the deep sweep stacks density where center parts show scalp; and any cowlick fighting a center part — the side part works with your growth pattern. Heart-shaped faces should keep it shallower.

How we build it to last, the engineering: a side part lives or dies at the root — it's set with heat direction and root lift at the heaviest side, then a light product at the parting line so it doesn't wander by cocktail hour. South Florida humidity is a side part's honest enemy; a Florida side part gets more structural pinning than a northern one, done invisibly.

The styles it elevates this season: the deep side sweep into a low chignon — my most requested 2025 bridal style; side-parted waves with one side tucked behind the ear; and the side-swept ponytail, which photographs like editorial. Pair it with an off-shoulder or one-shoulder gown and the look composes itself.
