Second Wedding Hair: Why the Brief Changes

I want to talk about the hair trial for a second marriage, because it is a different job and it should be treated like one.

Brides marrying again are usually clearer than first-time brides about what they want, and almost always less interested in performing. They know what suits them. They have opinions about what they will not do again. The result is often the best kind of styling: a woman who looks like herself, beautifully finished.

The conversations I have with second-time brides tend to skip the fantasy and go straight to practicalities. Which side do you part it on. How much do you want to be able to touch it. Are we doing something that feels like your work life or distinctly not. Do you want your neck to be bare.

What I hear most often is some version of softer and simpler. Less volume, less structure, less elaborate accessories. A chignon with a beautiful pin. Waves with an excellent cut underneath. A low twist. Hair that photographs as elegant and reads to the people who know you as unmistakably you.

There is also a family dimension nobody discusses. If you have children in the wedding, your hair needs to survive being climbed on. That means a genuinely secure base and no delicate details near the hairline.

And one more: if you are changing your name or blending families, the morning has more logistics than a first wedding. The hair appointment is the one part that should not add any.
