Then protect before you go out. A leave-in with a light film, applied mid-shaft to ends, is the single highest-value step. It creates a barrier that salt spray has to cross. Reapply at the beach if you are in the water, not because the first application failed but because the ocean removed it.

Then manage the finish. A salt-free texturizer gives you beachy movement without adding more salt to already-salted hair. A drop of oil on the ends seals them and stops the frizz halo that shows up in every outdoor photograph.

Then plan the recovery. Wash the night you get home, mask once weekly, and keep a wide-tooth comb in your bag. Do not brush wet, salty hair. It is the fastest way to break a cuticle.
