A venue guide for a place that is not a venue yet, which sounds strange until you realize how many Palm Beach County brides end up there. The getting-ready house.
More than half the weddings I style now start in a rental, a family home, or an Airbnb rather than a hotel suite, and it is usually the best decision a bride makes. Space, privacy, a kitchen, and nobody knocking. But it comes with three problems nobody warns you about, and they are all fixable with about ten minutes of planning.
The first problem is light. Homes are dark, and dark rooms mean nobody can see what they are doing, including me. Solve it by checking the room in advance or sending me photos. I bring lighting, but a bedroom with one small window and no overhead light is still a slow room.
The second is outlets. I need power near a mirror, and homes put outlets in strange places. Bring an extension cord and a power strip. That is the entire fix.
The third is the mirror. A single bathroom mirror for a party of six is a disaster. A full-length mirror and a folding table in a bright room will transform the morning more than any product will.
One more: chairs. A dining chair works. A bed does not. Bad posture for a bride means a crooked style and a sore back.
On numbers, party hair is $225 per person, bride hair is part of the $1,000 Bride Experience, and once you are at seven or more hair services I bring a second artist so the room has two sets of hands.
Getting ready at home? inquire and send me the room. Full investment details are online.
