A Real Wedding Morning Timeline: The Arithmetic

Count services, not people

November 27, 2026

Some weddings have twelve people getting hair and a ceremony at four. Some have three and a ceremony at eleven. Both are lovely, and both need the same thing from us: an honest timeline rather than an optimistic one.

Start with the arithmetic. Party hair runs thirty-five to fifty minutes per person. A group of five, plus the bride at ninety, plus fifteen minutes of finish, is roughly five hours. If your ceremony is at four, that means a nine a.m. start, which means coffee and food in the room before anyone sits down.

The mistake brides make is counting people instead of services. A bridesmaid who wants only a blowout takes thirty minutes. One who wants a braided updo with extensions takes sixty-five. Same person count, wildly different morning. We build the timeline from the service list, not the guest list.

Second mistake: not accounting for the photographer's arrival. Most photographers want two hours of getting-ready coverage. If they arrive at noon and you are not in the chair until one, they spend an hour photographing robes and shoes. Fine if planned, awkward if not.

Third mistake: no buffer. We build twenty minutes of slack into every timeline, because someone will be late, a dryer will trip a breaker, or a veil will need a second look. The buffer is not padding, it is the difference between a calm bride and a rushed one.

Mark has a role in this too, and it is usually the easiest part of the morning.

Our investment page covers what services cost, and a second artist is automatic at seven or more hair services. inquire with your service list and ceremony time.
