Gala season in Palm Beach runs from late November through April, and it is the busiest stretch of my year outside of weddings. Black tie here means something specific: polished, intentional, and never louder than the room.
The most requested look is a low, sleek chignon with a strong part. Second is a soft, brushed-out wave with real volume at the crown. Third, and rising fast, is a slicked-back knot with a single jeweled pin. All three work because they read as decisions rather than defaults.
What I would avoid at a Palm Beach gala: overly tousled texture, which looks careless next to eveningwear, and heavy hair jewelry, which competes with the jewelry that actually matters. If you are wearing a statement earring, keep the hair behind the ear on that side. It sounds obvious and it is the most common mistake I correct.
Timing is the practical issue. December and January are saturated, and a Saturday gala booking three weeks out is a real problem. If you have four or five galas, book all of them at once in October, and consider a repeatable shape for the season so you are not reinventing your hair every week.
Group bookings are also common. A private event group of six at $225 per person per service is often easier to schedule than six separate appointments, and the energy is better. Book it as one block.
