Wedding Hair at Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo: Multi-Day Keys Style

Ocean Reef is a destination within a destination, a private club community at the top of Key Largo where you need a gate pass and a real reason to be there. Weddings here are multi-day, family-heavy, and delightfully unhurried.

What the venue asks of hair: tropical structure. The Florida Keys give you wind, salt, and flat, bright heat, all at once. The styles that thrive are braided crowns, low woven buns, half-up shapes with genuine grip at the crown, and updos with internal support rather than surface pins. Loose waves can work, but only when the set is hard and the front is placed, which is a longer appointment and something I flag at booking.

Reef air is the other consideration. Being surrounded by water on a small key means humidity behaves differently than on the mainland, and an air-conditioned room to an outdoor walkway is a shock your hair makes several times a day. I build for repeat transitions: a base that holds when it is cool and does not collapse when it warms.

Three separate appointments, three intentions: relaxed for the welcome, formal for the wedding, easy for the farewell. Each one is a chance to be photographed looking completely different.

Travel is planned honestly. I come down the day before, I know the gate and the roads, and I do not pretend a Key Largo morning starts in Palm Beach. Parties run five to nine services, and seven or more adds a second artist. The Bride Experience is $1,000, party hair is $225 per person, and travel is quoted up front.
