Moroccanoil Treatment Original is the oldest product in my kit and the one I replace most often, because I use it on nearly every head. Fifteen years in, I can tell you exactly what it does and what it does not.
What it does: it smooths the cuticle, adds a soft sheen that reads as healthy rather than glossy, and makes coarse or lightened hair feel dramatically better within seconds. It also cuts drying time slightly, which matters on a wedding morning with eight services on the schedule.
What it does not do: it will not hold a style, and it will not protect against humidity on its own. It is a finishing and conditioning product, not a structural one. Brides who treat it as a frizz solution are always disappointed.
How I use it: two drops, emulsified between the palms, applied from mid lengths to ends on damp hair before blow drying. Then maybe one more drop on dry ends at the very end for shine. Never at the root on fine hair, and never on the front section, because oil at the hairline kills grip and shows in close photography.
On coarse or curly hair I use more and I am unapologetic about it. On fine hair, half a drop is genuinely enough, and most people use four times what they need.
The one mistake I see constantly: applying it to dry hair as a styling step rather than to damp hair as a prep. Damp application absorbs; dry application sits on the surface and collects dust by evening.
It is in my kit permanently and it is in the shop at Paige's curated storefront. Inquire if you want to know what I would use on your hair.
