Jupiter has quietly become the best-value wedding town in Palm Beach County, and the hair brief there is different from the island's. Less formality, more water, and a bride who wants to look beautiful at a party rather than regal at a ceremony.
Start with geography. Jupiter weddings cluster around the inlet, the lighthouse, and the stretch of A1A where the ocean is on one side and the intracoastal on the other. That means two kinds of light in one day: hard, bright ocean light in the afternoon and soft, golden intracoastal light at sunset. A style built for one will be wrong for the other unless the front is designed to be flexible. I keep the front softer and place the structure at the back.
The inlet wind is the real local knowledge. It funnels between the jetties and it is stronger than the forecast suggests. Brides photographing at the lighthouse in a loose style will lose it in the first thirty seconds. A low chignon or a braided crown will hold all afternoon.
Jupiter also has a genuine casual streak that I love. A bride in a silk slip dress with a slicked-back knot and a single gold pin is doing something more interesting than most ballroom looks. Do not let anyone tell you Jupiter weddings need to be dressed up.
