Ask ten brides what humidity does to hair and you will hear the same word ten times: frizz. That is the least interesting part of the problem and the easiest to fix. The real enemy is sag.
Frizz is surface. Humidity lifts the cuticle and the outer layer roughens. A smoothing layer and a light mist handles most of it. Annoying, but cosmetic.
Sag is structural. Moisture in the air softens the hydrogen bonds your hot tool created, so the curl you built at eight in the morning relaxes by two. That is why brides get to the reception and their waves have flattened into a bend. No spray fixes this after the fact, because the shape itself is gone.
What actually helps: less moisture in the hair before you style. That means a proper dry, a light smoothing base on damp hair, and no heavy cream, because heavy cream is basically inviting humidity in. Then set the shape with heat in smaller sections, and pin the curl while it cools. Cooling is when the bond sets, so pinning during cooling is what makes a wave survive the afternoon.
Second thing that helps: a structure that does not depend on curl. Pinned shapes and textured updos are weatherproof by design. If your heart is set on soft waves in July, plan them for a shape that can relax into something still beautiful.
