Brides ask me what to do about their hair for the honeymoon, and it is a genuinely good question that almost nobody plans for. You have just spent months getting your hair into wedding condition. Here is how to leave without undoing it.
First, the flight. Do not travel with hair you just styled for the reception. Wash it, dry it, and put it in a loose braid or a claw clip for the flight. Braids protect, clips prevent friction, and both survive a middle seat.
Second, what to pack. A travel-size leave-in, a small bottle of oil, a silk scrunchie or two, and a wide-tooth comb. That is genuinely enough. Most honeymoon hair damage comes from sun and salt, not from a lack of products.
Third, sun. This is the big one. UV degrades both hair color and protein structure. A leave-in with UV protection, a hat, and rinsing with fresh water after swimming cover ninety percent of the risk. If you have extensions in, UV is even more important, because extension hair does not get replaced by your scalp's oils.
Fourth, salt and chlorine. Rinse before you swim, not after. Hair that is already saturated absorbs less salt water and less chlorine. It sounds backwards. It works.
Fifth, if you have K-tips in, read the care guidance at majesticextensions.com before you pack. Tropical humidity and extension bonds need a little attention.
