Wedding Hair in Gulf Stream and Ocean Ridge

Gulf Stream is a mile long, has more hedge than sidewalk, and contains one of the most quietly beautiful stretches of coastline in Palm Beach County. Weddings here are small, private, and usually at a home or at the Gulf Stream Bath and Tennis Club. Both change the hair plan.

A private estate wedding in Gulf Stream means you are working in someone's house. That is a different service than a hotel. Getting-ready space is whatever the host has cleared, lighting is whatever the room offers, and there is no one to call if a mirror is missing. I bring lighting, extension cords, and a folding table. Fifteen years of doing this means I have arrived at a house with no accessible outlet more than once.

The other factor is the ocean. The properties here sit close to the water, and an outdoor ceremony under the sea grape at five in the afternoon gets a real breeze, not a decorative one. I build the crown with more internal structure than I would for an inland venue, and I finish the underside of any updo, because wind comes from below as often as above.

Home weddings also run differently in time. There is no venue coordinator moving things along, which is charming until it is 5:45 and the ceremony was at 5:30. I build a fifteen-minute buffer into every estate timeline and I say out loud at the start what time I need the bride in the chair.
