Here's the honest setup checklist I share with every bride — it's shorter than you'd think, and none of it requires the venue to be fancy.

Light, the one that matters most: a styling station lives or dies by light, and the best getting-ready rooms have big windows with indirect daylight — near the window but not in direct sun, which turns waves harsh and everyone squinting. I bring my own station lighting as backup, but natural light is the gold standard, and it's the same light your getting-ready photographs want. Choosing a getting-ready space with one great window beats a bigger room with none.

Chairs and surfaces, the practical backbone: one chair per styling position — bar stools, dining chairs, anything with a back and a reasonable height work beautifully — plus a table for the kit's spread: my tools, hot irons' rest, the finishing products. Outlet access decides where stations land; I arrive early and map the room before anyone sits, so nobody shuffles chairs mid-morning.
