The getting-ready playlist is a small thing that changes a wedding morning more than most brides expect. We have styled hundreds of mornings and the correlation is real: a good playlist produces a calmer room, fewer tears before noon, and a bride who sits still.
What does not work: a shared phone, a far-away speaker, and an argument about whose turn it is. What works: one person owns the music before the morning starts, one speaker is charged and placed, and nobody touches it after nine.
The tempo matters. Start slow and low during the first hour, when the mother of the bride is having her hair done and the room is quiet. Move up when the party arrives. Go loud for the last half hour, because that is when champagne is open and everyone is dressed and the energy needs to carry into the ceremony.
Skip anything with a strong memory attached during hair. A song that makes your sister cry is a song for the ceremony, not for the chair. Save the emotional ones for the drive.
Ten songs for the first hour, in rough order: something soft and modern, something old and warm, something your mother knows. The exact list matters less than the absence of chaos.
One practical note: keep the volume below the point where we have to raise our voices. We need to hear you, and you will want to hear the photographer.
Our morning planning includes a room sheet with timing, chair order, and yes, a playlist note. The investment page has what is included in the Bride Experience at $1,000. inquire and we will send it.
