Two Weeks Out: The Only Wedding Hair Checklist You Need

Four things to do, four things to leave alone

November 7, 2026

Two weeks before a wedding is the most over-scheduled, over-emotional, over-committed fortnight of the engagement. It is also when the decisions that actually affect how you look in photographs get made. Here is the version I give brides at the fourteen-day mark, in order.

Do: get a gloss. Not a color change, a gloss. It closes the cuticle, evens tone, and buys you four weeks of shine. Book it for twelve to ten days out, never closer.

Do: confirm your hair team's arrival time, address, and access instructions. Send a photo of the room and the parking situation. Confirm your headcount in writing. If anyone has been added or dropped, say so now rather than at 7 a.m.

Do: wash your hair on your normal schedule. Do not "save" it for the day. The single most common wedding-morning hair problem is hair washed the same morning, still slightly damp at the root, with nothing to grip.

Do: wear your veil for ten minutes at home. You will find out whether it needs a different comb, a wider anchor, or a press.

Don't: cut your hair. Not a trim, not "just the ends." Anything cut inside fourteen days will sit differently than it did at your preview.

Don't: try a new color, a new treatment, or a new tool. Two weeks out is not a testing window.

Don't: get a facial less than a week before your wedding. Skin reactions around the hairline are real and they show in every updo photograph.

Don't: change your products. If you have used the same shampoo for years, this is not the month to experiment.

The rest of it is emotional maintenance: sleep, water, and a bit of distance from the group chat. Two weeks out, your job is not more decisions. It is arriving at your wedding morning rested enough to enjoy being fussed over.

If we are not yet on your calendar and your date is close, reach out anyway. We keep a waitlist for exactly this situation: inquire with your date and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
