Install timing: get your K-tips installed five to seven days before you fly, not the day before. Keratin bonds need a couple of days to settle and soften against the natural hair. Installed and flown out within twenty-four hours, they can feel tight on the scalp during a long travel day, and a bride who arrives with a headache is a bride who cannot enjoy her welcome party.
Packing: never check your extension pieces. Carry them in a silk bag inside your carry-on. The one thing that genuinely ruins extensions in air travel is not the altitude, it is the heat and pressure of a checked bag against a hard-shell case, which can flatten or crimp the hair beyond recovery.
What to carry on: a wide-tooth comb, a small bottle of oil, and a silk scrunchie. Pull the hair into a loose low twist for the flight. Do not wear a tight top knot for four hours; the tension at the nape is what causes soreness.
On arrival: give your hair a full day of normalcy before the wedding events begin. Wash with cool water, condition the mid-lengths, and let it air dry. Jumping straight into a blowout on arrival day, in a new climate, is how extensions start misbehaving.
One professional note: if you are flying somewhere with hard water, bring a shower filter or a chelating shampoo. Palm Beach water is already mineral-heavy and your hair is used to it. A sudden switch to very hard water makes extension hair feel stiff and coated in two washes.
