Dyson AirWrap Curls That Actually Last All Day

Every bride who owns a Dyson AirWrap has had the same experience: gorgeous soft waves for ninety minutes, then nothing. The tool is not the problem. The technique is, and it is fixable in about four changes.

First, the hair has to be ninety percent dry, not damp. The AirWrap is not a dryer. If the hair is wet, the barrel spends its heat on water instead of shape. Dry it first with the dryer attachment, then style.

Second, section size. The barrels fit less hair than people think. If you overload a barrel, the outer layer sets and the inner layer does not, and the whole thing falls. Four sections per side, minimum, for medium density.

Third, and this is the one that matters most: the cold shot. Every section needs thirty seconds of cold before you release it. Heat sets the shape and cold locks it. Skipping the cold is why the curl slides out an hour later.

Fourth, do not brush it out immediately. Let each section cool completely while you work on the next one, and only then run your fingers through. A brush through a warm curl is a brush through a curl that has not set.
