If I could give every Palm Beach bride one planning tool, it would not be a Pinterest board. It would be the dew point forecast for her wedding week.
Humidity is talked about constantly and understood poorly. What actually determines whether your hair swells, frizzes, or holds is the dew point, more than the relative humidity percentage. A seventy percent humidity day at a sixty-degree dew point is comfortable hair weather. The same seventy percent at a seventy-four dew point is a different universe. In Palm Beach, dew points above seventy are where smooth styles start to misbehave, and above seventy-four is where even good styling gets tested.
Why this matters practically: it tells you which look to choose. If your date falls in a high-dew-point week, we lean into styles with built-in texture (braids, texture buns, soft sets with a stronger foundation) because those looks are designed to move. If your week sits in the dry window, usually December through March, we can do the smooth, glassy, hair-down look that photographs like a magazine cover.
It also tells you when to wash. High dew point days reward a wash the day before with a humidity-blocking primer applied to damp hair. Low dew point days reward an extra day of natural oils so the finish has weight.
And it tells us how to build the timeline. On a heavy dew-point day, we add fifteen minutes to the finish block for every person in the chair, because setting takes longer and the cool-shot step is not optional. That is real time, and it is the reason a morning that runs smoothly in February can feel frantic in August.
It is also why we do not promise a specific look in July that we would happily promise in January. Honesty about the air is part of the service.
