Delray Beach has a distinct wedding personality: the beach on one side, Atlantic Avenue on the other, and a level of informality that makes it the most relaxed of the county's big cities. It is also where a lot of my favorite mornings happen.
What the city asks of hair: easy elegance. Delray weddings are rarely stuffy. Sand ceremonies at the beach pavilions, hotel receptions on Atlantic, restaurant buyouts downtown, and a lot of private homes. The common thread is that the brides want to look beautiful without looking like they tried.
The style answer: soft shapes with real structure underneath. Brushed-out waves, a loose low bun, a braid with visible texture, a half-up with face-framing pieces. What I avoid in Delray is anything with a hard architectural edge, which reads as out of place.
The technical consideration: the ocean is two blocks from downtown, and the humidity does not care where your ceremony is. Even a restaurant reception downtown gets the salt air. Humidity blocking is standard.
Timeline notes: Atlantic Avenue on a Saturday is a parking situation, not a drive. If your morning is at a downtown hotel or venue, I plan arrival early and I set up in the room rather than moving between spaces. For beach ceremonies, add ten minutes for the walk from car to sand.
What Delray does best: brunch receptions and late-afternoon ceremonies. Both give you the best light in the county and both let the hair stay soft through the day.
