The Delray Beach Tennis Club is one of those venues that brides discover through a friend and then cannot imagine anywhere else. Clay courts, a low clubhouse, palms that have been there since the seventies, and a guest list that spills onto the patio in bare feet by nine. It is relaxed in a way that only very confident places are.
Hair here should be soft and mobile. A loose, low chignon with real texture. A half-up with a wave set and no visible pins. A braid that starts at the crown and disappears into a bun. The style should look like it happened naturally to someone with excellent hair, which is exactly the illusion we are building for three hundred and forty words of effort.
The club's outdoor spaces are the draw and the challenge. Ceremonies on the lawn happen in full afternoon sun, and portraits happen under the club's old trees. We test in both. Sun means we add definition so the style does not wash out in wide shots, and shade means we keep the surface touchable so backlit photographs still show the shape.
Timing is relaxed at this venue, which lets us do something most brides never get: a proper finish. That means a final check with a hand mirror in natural light, a last pass with a soft brush, and a minute to breathe before the photographer arrives. It is the part of the morning nobody photographs and everybody remembers.
For groups, six or fewer hair services is a comfortable single-artist morning. Seven or more and a second artist joins automatically. Party hair and party makeup are $225 per person, bride makeup is $1,000, and trailing hours for touch-ups before dinner are $400 each.
