Delray Beach has quietly become the most interesting wedding town in Palm Beach County, and the hair that belongs here is different from Palm Beach hair in a way that is hard to describe and easy to see.
The town itself is a mix of Atlantic Avenue energy and quiet residential streets, with weddings happening in gardens, on the beach, in restored houses, and in design-forward hotels. The through-line is a relaxed, contemporary sensibility. Nobody in Delray is trying to look like they married into a club.
What works: textured styles with a modern edge. A low loose bun with visible texture. A center-parted pony with a matte finish. Waves with a hand-rumpled surface rather than a perfect barrel curl. Braids, especially worn low and slightly undone, photograph beautifully in beach light and hold better than smooth styles in humidity.
What does not work: heavy, lacquered, formal shapes. They read as borrowed from a different town.
Weather is the constant. Delray sits directly on the Atlantic, so beach ceremonies get wind and salt, and afternoon rain in summer is a real planning factor. I build in the humidity defense, place the front deliberately, and I always have a rain plan for the style: what gets pinned, what gets restyled, and how quickly it can happen.
