Coral Gables and Coconut Grove: Two Miami Bridal Aesthetics

Coral Gables and Coconut Grove are the two most beautiful wedding neighborhoods in Miami, and they are consistently underestimated by brides who assume a Miami wedding means South Beach.

The Gables gives you Mediterranean architecture, coral rock, banyan trees, and a genuinely historic streetscape. The Biltmore is the anchor, with its tower and painted ceilings, and the surrounding churches, gardens, and private homes are all exceptional. Styling here should be formal and warm: a classic chignon, soft waves with a clean part, an updo with a beautiful pin. The architecture is ornate, so hair should answer it with polish rather than compete with it.

The Grove gives you water, old wooden houses, jungle gardens, and a bohemian undertone that has survived decades of development. Styling here is looser: textured buns, braids, waves with a hand-rumpled finish, flowers if you want them. Formal and stiff feels wrong under a banyan tree.

Both neighborhoods share the same weather problem, which is heavy subtropical humidity and reliable afternoon rain from June through September. I build a real base, place the front deliberately, and always have a rain plan for the style, including what gets pinned if portraits have to move indoors.

The drive from Palm Beach County is real. I plan arrival with a margin, and for a Gables or Grove wedding I would rather be early and waiting than late and rushing.
