Coconut Grove and Coral Gables are the two most architecturally romantic places to get married in South Florida, and they are also the two where I most often see bridal hair let down by timing rather than styling. Here is how to plan a Miami-Dade morning properly.
The driving problem is real. If you are getting ready in Palm Beach County and marrying in the Gables, you are looking at ninety minutes of turnpike at the wrong time of day. I have done it and it works, but only with a hard schedule: finished hair, departing by 1 p.m. for a 5 p.m. ceremony, with a pin kit in the car and a bridesmaid holding it.
Better, when the budget allows: get ready in Miami. I travel to the Biltmore, the Grove, or a rental house and style on site. That eliminates the drive risk, gives the photographer a clean run at getting-ready photos, and means the style is fresh when the ceremony starts.
Climate-wise, the Gables and the Grove are lush and shaded, which is beautiful for photographs and humid for hair. Same rule as always: fully set, fully cooled, sealed cuticle. And banyan shade makes soft texture look richer, so I lean romantic here: low textures, soft braids, loose chignons.
