Wedding Hair at The Club at Ibis, West Palm Beach

The Club at Ibis sits off Northlake with two Arthur Hills courses and a clubhouse that is genuinely lovely at golden hour. It is also a community where a lot of the guests live ten minutes away, which makes for a wedding that starts on time and ends late. Both of those affect the hair.

Ceremonies here are usually outdoors, on the lawn or the terrace, and West Palm Beach afternoons in the cooler months are close to ideal. From May through September they are not, and a five o'clock ceremony in July means the sun is still high and the humidity is still at seventy percent.

What that asks for is structure. I want a pinned shape rather than a brushed-out one, because a pinned shape can lose a little surface polish and still look intentional. A brushed-out wave that loses its polish just looks slept on.

The ballroom lighting is warm and slightly dim, which flatters a smooth crown and punishes a lot of fine flyaway texture. I finish with a smoothing pass and a light hold, and I keep shine products minimal, because warm light plus gloss reads as oily.
