A wedding in a church adds a set of expectations that a garden ceremony does not have, and brides often discover them a week before. Hair for a church is about respect, visibility, and what happens when you add a veil to a headpiece to a formal gown.
Start with the veil. Church etiquette in Palm Beach County leans traditional: veil over the face for the procession, lifted at the altar. That means the comb has to be positioned so it can lift cleanly without disturbing the style, and the style underneath has to look finished the moment the veil moves. We rehearse this at the preview, and we practice the lift.
Then the headpiece question. A tiara, a chapel cap, or a lace veil band all add hardware. They need to sit on a structure, not on loose waves. If you want a headpiece, we build the style around it rather than adding it afterward.
Then the light. Old churches are dim, and dim light plus a dark wood interior flattens texture. We add definition at the face and choose a finish with some reflectivity, and we ask the photographer to test flash before the procession.
Then the shoulders. Church dresses often have sleeves or a higher back, which changes where hair should sit. A low chignon needs a neckline that works with it.
The Bride Experience at $1,000 includes a preview where we test the veil lift. Details on our investment page. inquire with your church and ceremony time.
