Your veil slid an inch during the ceremony and now it is sitting slightly wrong in every portrait. It is one of the most common things brides tell me afterward, and the fix is almost always decided before the veil ever goes in.
Why veils slip: tulle and silk are smooth, hair is smooth, and gravity is patient. A comb pushed into a finished style holds only as long as the style itself is dense enough to grip it. On fine hair, or on a sleek blowout, that grip is minimal, so the veil drifts backward through the afternoon no matter how firmly it was placed.
The fix starts at the base. I build extra density exactly where the comb will sit, usually an inch or two behind the crown, using a lightly backcombed section that is then smoothed over. The comb goes in at a slight angle toward the head rather than straight down, and it is cross-pinned with two bobby pins in an X so it cannot rotate. On very fine hair, a hidden micro grip pad under that section does the work invisibly.
Where to place it matters too. A veil anchored too far forward fights the forehead and looks heavy in photographs; anchored too far back it slides off the slope of the head. The right spot is where the skull is flattest, which is different for every bride, and that is a preview conversation, not a wedding morning discovery.
Sample the weight. A cathedral length veil with a metal comb pulling on fine hair behaves completely differently from a short tulle veil. Bring yours to your preview and we will set it, walk it, and photograph it. If your veil is heavy, plan a style with more crown structure rather than more pins.
If you want your veil placed and photographed before the ceremony, that is part of the morning. Inquire with your date and we will start with your veil.
