Bridal Hair + I Am Three Months Out and Have Nothing Booked

The problem: your wedding is in three months, you have not booked hair, and every artist you like is showing a waitlist.

Three months is not too late in most of the country. In Palm Beach County, in season, it is late. But it is not hopeless, and I have built beautiful mornings on shorter notice than that.

The solution, in order: first, be flexible on the artist, not on the date. A studio with several artists can often place you with someone excellent who is not the owner. Ask for that explicitly instead of asking for the person whose Instagram you liked.

Second, be flexible on the time. Saturdays at four o'clock are the hardest slot in the county. A Friday wedding, a Sunday brunch, or a mid-afternoon Saturday ceremony opens up real availability.

Third, be realistic about party size. Nine services on short notice is a hard yes for almost nobody. Nine services spread across two artists is much easier. If you are open to a second chair, say so in your first email and you will get different answers.

Fourth, book the preview immediately. The mistake I see is brides holding off on the preview while they decide on a venue or dress. The preview can happen before the dress exists, and it de-risks everything after.

What I will not do is promise a date I cannot staff. If I cannot cover your morning properly, I will tell you and point you to someone who can. That is a small community and reputation is everything.
