Bridal Hair + How Do We Get Ready in a Rental House?

The problem: you are getting married in Delray Beach in a house you rented for the weekend, and there is no salon, no bridal suite, and no obvious place to put four hair artists and eight women.

This is the most common scenario I work in now, and it is my favorite. Private homes give you freedom a club cannot, and they also give you a complete absence of infrastructure.

The solution is a getting-ready plan built before the day. Three things matter: light, power, and a door that closes.

Light first. Choose the room with the best natural light, ideally north or east facing, and clear the space near the window. Bad light makes every artist slower and every finish look worse. If the best room is the kitchen, we work in the kitchen.

Power second. Bring an extension cord and a power strip. Four artists means four dryers and four irons, and a 1950s Delray cottage will not thank you for all of them on one circuit. I have tripped a breaker in a beautiful home and it is a fifteen-minute delay nobody plans for.

Third: a door. Makeup and hair in separate rooms if possible, and a place for the bride to be alone for ten minutes. The best private-home weddings I have worked had a small, quiet room reserved for the bride and nothing else scheduled in it.

Delray has wonderful light and a real breeze, so build in a mist and a plan for the porch photos. Local knowledge matters here, which is exactly what you are paying for.
