Bridal Hair and Rain: What to Do When the Radar Turns

Build for the forecast, not the photo

November 12, 2026

Every bride asks it, usually in a whisper: what if it rains? In Palm Beach County the answer is not a shrug, it is a plan, and hair is the part of that plan brides forget to make until the week of. Here is how we build rain resilience into a style from the very start.

Rain changes the air before it changes the sky. Humidity climbs for hours ahead of a storm, which means the base of your style needs to be set with tension and a smoothing prep, not a heavy cream. If your ceremony is in June or September, assume 80 percent humidity on the morning of, and style for that rather than for the forecast app.

Rain changes fabric too. A veil that gets damp becomes heavy and limp, so we choose a comb with teeth and shorter veil lengths when the radar is questionable. Brides with cathedral veils should have a second, lighter option ready and a plan for when it comes out.

Rain changes the timeline. A sudden downpour means portraits move indoors, which usually means tighter quarters and different light. We build twenty extra minutes into rainy-season timelines specifically so the hair gets finished before the scramble, not during it.

Rain changes your shoes, not your hair, which is the good news. A well-built chignon does not care about a wet sidewalk. A loose wave set does. This is the one season where we push brides toward structure, and every bride who has been caught in an August downpour has thanked us for it.

If you are planning a summer wedding, tell us at your inquire and we will build a weather plan from day one. Our investment page covers the hours you can add for contingencies.
