A halter neckline and a high neck are two of the most flattering shapes in bridal and two of the hardest to pair with hair. Both put fabric where hair usually falls, and both force a decision most brides make by accident.
The halter problem is the back. Halter dresses typically leave the shoulder blades bare and cross at the nape, which means the nape is the focal point and anything low will fight the strap. Hair down will tangle with the tie. Hair in a low chignon will sit on top of it. The answer is up, and higher than you think: a style placed at or above the occipital bone, with a clean back so the strap reads clearly.
The high neckline problem is the opposite. A high collar or a mock neck creates a strong horizontal at the throat and adds visual weight at the jaw. Hair down in that situation shortens the whole look. Hair up, with an exposed ear and a clean jaw, gives the neckline room to work.
Both shapes also want a defined part. Soft, center-falling hair against a halter or a high collar looks like an accident. A hard part reads as a choice and gives structure to a very clean dress.
The one thing I would avoid with either: a veil that sits low. Halters and high necks both have strong vertical lines at the back and a nape veil will compete with them. Comb it high, or skip the veil entirely and use a single hair ornament.
