The Bridal Hair Color Timeline: Three Appointments, Three Clocks

Highlights, gloss, and roots each need their own deadline

November 9, 2026

Most brides think of color as a pre-wedding task with one deadline. Actually it's three separate appointments on three separate clocks, and getting them in the right order is the difference between hair that photographs rich and hair that photographs flat.

The first appointment is the foundation: highlights, a full color, or a correction. This should land eight to twelve weeks before the wedding. That's enough time to live with it, see it in different light, and adjust if something's off. A color change two weeks out is a gamble, and gambles don't belong in a wedding timeline.

The second is the tone. Glosses and toners are what make blonde look expensive and brunette look dimensional. Book two to three weeks out. Fresh toner looks slightly cool and slightly intense on day one, then settles into itself over ten days. Two weeks is the sweet spot where it's beautiful but not loud.

Third is the root touch-up, if you need one. Three weeks out. Closer than that and the color hasn't softened. Farther out and you have a visible line at the part in your portraits.

One Florida-specific note: sun and saltwater lighten and warm everything. If your wedding is in summer and you swim, your color will shift. I ask summer brides to add a UV protectant to their routine and to avoid chlorine for six weeks before, because green in blonde is a real problem and hard to fix in a week.

If you want your color and your style planned together, inquire with your date, and our instant pricing tool covers the styling side.
