Boca West Country Club is one of the largest private clubs in the country, and its wedding operation runs with a precision that makes my job easier. Three clubs, multiple ballrooms, and a staff that has seen everything.
The styling brief here is Boca formal: smooth, controlled, and quietly expensive. A blowout with a deep part, a low chignon with a clean nape, a polished half-up with real height. What does not work is anything that looks casual, because the room does not allow it. Boca West is not a garden and it is not a beach.
Light is the technical factor. The ballrooms are large with high ceilings, and the light is warm and even. That is flattering for finish and unforgiving for product film, so I use light layers and check the surface under a bright light before the bride leaves the chair.
The other factor is the day's length. Boca West weddings often run long: cocktail hour, a full dinner, dancing until midnight. That argues for structure with a real crown anchor. A bride who dances for three hours needs her chignon built like it is going to be tested, because it will be.
For parties over seven hair services, a second artist joins, which is standard for a club of this scale. Nine services in one chair takes five hours and one artist in two chairs takes two and a half.
