An engagement session on the beach in Palm Beach County is a beautiful idea and a hard assignment for hair. Wind, salt, sun, and a photographer asking you to walk through the surf. Here is how we make it work.
First, the timing. Sessions at golden hour are the standard for a reason, but the wind is usually strongest between four and six. If your location is exposed, ask your photographer for a morning session instead. The light is softer and the air is calmer, and your hair will thank you.
Second, the style. A low, textured bun. A braid. A half-up with the front pinned back. Anything that keeps hair off your face, because a session is forty-five minutes of the photographer saying look this way. Loose hair in wind becomes a shoot about hair rather than a shoot about you.
Third, the products. A leave-in barrier before styling, a salt-free texturizer for movement, and a sealant on the ends. No salt spray, even though it is tempting for the aesthetic. You are already at the beach.
Fourth, the outfit. Bring a hair tie and a comb, and choose a neckline that works with your style. A high neck and a low bun is the safest combination on a windy beach.
Engagement sessions are $500 and usually run ninety minutes including styling. Our investment page has the details. inquire with your session date and location.
