The question a bride asks 48 hours out is usually a version of: do I need to do anything, or should I just show up? The answer is closer to nothing than you think, but the nothing has to be specific.
The two-night rule: wash your hair two nights before the wedding, not the night before and not the morning of. That gives the scalp one full day to settle and your hair one day of natural oils to grip. This single change fixes more wedding-day problems than any product.
What to do the night before: nothing dramatic. A little oil on the ends. Sleep on silk if you have it. Do not do a mask, a treatment, or a scalp scrub the night before. All three make hair too soft to hold a style within eighteen hours.
What to do the morning of: show up with dry hair. If it feels heavy or coated at the root, we fix it in the chair with a dry shampoo pass. If your hair is damp when the styling starts, everything takes longer and holds worse.
The one thing you should skip: a haircut in the final two weeks. Every layer is sharp and new, and sharp new layers read slightly severe in an updo.
The one thing you should not skip: eating. I have styled brides who had not eaten since a 7 a.m. coffee, and their hands shake and their blood sugar drops and the morning gets hard. Eat something with protein before you sit down.
What to bring: your veil, your accessories, any image that matters to you, and a photo of your dress. Not your whole Pinterest board. Three images, chosen.
